A Theoretical Mechanism for Coupling Microwave Radiation to Biological Systems

A theoretical perspective was used to explore the possibility that local absorption of microwave (MW) radiation by small crystals of biologically precipitated magnetite might be a mechanism capable of producing biological effects. The total concentration of magnetite in human brain tissue is low, but local concentrations could be as high as a few percent. Generally, normal cells are transparent to MW radiation, but cells containing ferromagnetic materials such as magnetite may absorb 10-30% of incident microwave energy. Energy absorbed through the ferromagnetic resonance process may first be transduced into acoustic vibrations at the microwave carrier frequency within the crystal lattice via the magnetoacoustic effect; then dissipated in cellular structures in close proximity to the magnetite crystals. The author speculated that microwave-ferromagnetic acoustic oscillations may increase hydrophilic pores in the magnetosome membrane and consequently permit hydroxyl radical generation, which may damage DNA. I was very interested in this due to the fact that I am sensitive to microwaves. I live in an area where there is iron in the soil and water. I drink the water because it has been tested to be free of chemicals and bacteria. It does however have high iron, copper and calcium in it. I have had it tested in these areas by the company that furnishes me the water softener system. I use the soft water for everything but drinking and I use the unsoftened water for that. The military flies through where I live which is in a rural area in Oklahoma. A few years ago they started flying lower and lower over the ranch and two years ago this August I called them and complained heavily about it. Two weeks later I awoke one morning with this unbelievable hum. I looked everywhere to see where it was coming from. Since I live on a 3000 acre ranch and farm, it was obvious to me that it was not coming from anywhere on the farm. I drove miles around the area. After hearing this for months and not being able to sleep well and having trouble with concrentation from it, I called the Air Force and told them. I am sensitive to microwaves and this was affecting me just as microwave ovens in use. They did tell me they had a low lying radar over me, because they thought this was what I wanted, since I had the problem with the low flying jets. They called me later though and told me to contact my power company, they thought that may be my problem. Anyway, what I am getting down to is something is going on that is affecting my body like microwaves. Why I am extra sensitive to them and electromagnetic energy, I do not know. That is why I am writing this. Maybe I do have something in my body that affects me differently than the average person. Could it be the iron and Magnetite? I wonder how many other persons might be having this same problem. I hope not many.
