August 17, 1999 - Darlene (USA) I recently had an Affinity DR pacemaker by Pacesetter Inc, implanted and I currently work in the basement of a very large hospital which operates many different types of large electronical equipment (MRI, CAT scan machines, and large amounts of generators, telephone systems, etc). What if any are the risks and dangers I am in?
January 27, 1999 - Martin (Canada) I`m presently working in a nickel smelter and one of my co-workers has been fitted with a pacesetter. He is presently on light duty (janitor) because our company cannot find the proper information to truly put him in a safe enviroment. Can you tell me what are the limits his pacemaker can take and what type of readings should our company should take. The Company want to put in a tool crib and the person in question is a millwright.
May 11, 1998 - Berney (USA) I work in a building with a room containing electrical equipment i.e., several breaker boxes, a transformer and telephone equipment. I have been in the room but still am concerned that I should be there. I have a cardiac pacemaker by "Pacesetter". Also, I enjoy getting in tanning beds but have not done so since I have had the pacemaker. Any input with regard to either of these situations? Thanks.
January 10, 1998 - Daina (USA) I am a mother of a 6 year old with an Intermedics pacer. I am concerned about the radio frequency emitted from the new digital cell phone, 2 way radios, and other unforseen emissions. Can anyone please tell me what poses a threat to him, what the effects might be, and how to avoid it- or at least make the public aware of it? Thank you.
October 19, 1997 - A. Mepham (Australia) I am an occupational health and safety advisor working in the Australian manufacturing industry. We are currently concerned with the health effects of EMR on heart pacemakers due to the magnetic fields created by electric welding equipment and induction steel furmaces. Any information forwarded to me on this subject would be greatly appreciated.
