This report summarized the authors' observations of artificial pacemaker function during radiofrequency current (RFC) ablation procedures. Pacemakers showed sensing failures in 32% of patients attributable to the strong noise of RFC. Analysis of pacemakers after treatment of patients showed no loss of functional capacity or programmability. The authors recommended inactivation of pacemakers during RFC delivery or, alternatively, pacing in the bipolar mode with an additional electrode for external pacing. [BENER 12931]
