In a Finnish study of pregnancy outcomes and video display terminals, the authors reviewed evidence for the possible association between adverse pregnancy outcome and exposure to magnetic fields emitted from video display terminals (VDTs). The discussion considered magnetic fields emitted by VDTs, exposure assessments, and the results of epidemiological studies investigating the effects of VDT exposure on pregnancy outcome. The authors concluded that most of the epidemiological studies suggest that VDT work is not associated with an increased risk of adverse pregnancy outcome. A few studies showed an excess of some adverse outcomes, but the effects of recall bias could not be excluded in these studies. Modern VDT magnetic field emissions are generally lower than emissions from other sources in the office environment, but there are some indications of an increased risk of adverse pregnancy outcome among women exposed to relatively high levels of ELF magnetic fields from certain older VDTs. The authors concluded it is therefore important to evaluate reproductive effects of the higher magnetic field levels prevalent in metal factories and other industrial occupational environments before definitive conclusions are reached about the effects of magnetic fields on fetal development. I work in a small security room with 12 vcrs and 3 terminals to view my camera shots on. I am 5 months pregnant and I need to know if my baby is at any harm. Thank you

The information I received from this page was a very small and hard to understand amount.
Editor's Reply: Our reports, which are available to our paid subscribers to BENER Digest Update and the EMF Database, are in fact significantly longer and more detailed than what you see here.
