In a case-control study of home sewing machine operators in Spain, 128 cases were examined of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) in children diagnosed at age 15 yr or younger born to mothers who were working at home during pregnancy. A six- or seven-fold increase in risk of ALL in children was associated with the mother's employment in home sewing which was attributed to exposure to organic fiber dust or oils from the sewing machines. No measurements of electromagnetic field levels were made for the sewing machines used in Spain at the time of the study, although based on the ergonomics and results of other EMF studies of high EMF exposures in the garment industry, the author indicates that fetal exposure was likely and a possible clinical factor at the time of the study. I'm 5 months pregnent. All is well so far. I am working on my computer from home about 3-5 hours a day. Is my baby at any risk?
